The Diabolical Dr. Z (1966)

Hey!  This week has something pretty special on B-Movie Enema.  So, when I was trying to think about what movies I wanted to watch for October, I couldn’t really think of a theme for the month.  However, I had some movies I’ve always wanted to do that are either somewhat popular, or have a cult following, or this week’s movie, The Diabolical Dr. Z, which features a returning director – Jess Franco.

As I explained last week, October is kind of a big month for B-Movie Enema.  In fact, it was the month I started writing the blog way back in 2014.  One of those movies was Oasis of the Zombies.  That was also directed by Jess Franco.  Unfortunately, that movie sucked.  Hard.

Since then, ol’ Uncle Jessie bounced back with an Ilsa movie and a “Black” Emanuelle movie.  And this week, Dr. Z will take him back to his earlier days of filmmaking and is a surprisingly stylish and atmospheric movie.  On top of that, it’s been a very long time, almost 2 years to be exact, since I covered a movie from the 60s.  Additionally, it was also the last time I looked at a black and white movie on this site. Violence in a Women’s Prison (1982)

Ah…  Women in prison flicks.  I almost feel like I’m home after that literal trip through hell last week.  What’s interesting is that this movie sort of has a connection to that bonkers Bruceploitation movie.

Violence in a Women’s Prison stars Laura Gemser, an Indonesian actress who starred in a lot of Euro-trash exploitation fair.  She starred in X-rated stuff too.  This is mostly due to her playing “Black” Emanuelle.  Yeah…  Remember the “femme fatale” in last week’s movie?  Her name was Emanuelle too.  So what’s that all about? Ilsa, The Wicked Warden (1977)

We’re back for round 3 of Ilsa She-Wolf of SSeptember Month here at B-Movie Enema.  Last time, I mentioned that this week’s installment, Ilsa, The Wicked Warden, was a bit of the redheaded stepchild of the series.  It’s not because Ilsa is a redhead this time around (I mean… yes that too), but it’s really because this movie was never meant to be a part of the series.

The first two, as well as next week’s installment, were legitimately made to all be about a ball-busting chick (sorta) named Ilsa who ran a prison camp or a harem.  This was actually meant to be entirely separate.  This film was legitimately filmed to be like those other women in prison, sexploitation flicks and be marketed overseas.  What better way to sell them than to have Dyanne Thorne be your villainess?  And how do you give it more of the European flavor? Oasis of the Zombies (1981)

Happy Halloween!

When I first thought about what it would be that I would watch for the Halloween edition of B-Movie Enema, I had some classics.  I thought about something classic like The Creature from the Black Lagoon or The Giant Claw.  I even thought about doing one of the Friday the 13th movies.

But then, I was all like, “Fuck it…  Oasis of the Zombies.”

Here we have a French production about some treasure hunters in a film by Jesus Franco.  It’s got Nazi zombies, so how can it be bad?  (That’s not me setting up the fact that it’s likely bad.  I’m being serious, how bad can a movie featuring Nazi zombies be bad???)
